BYU basketball joins UConn, USC and Vanderbilt in Legends Classic field

Part of BYU basketball’s nonconference schedule became official Wednesday, as the school announced the Cougars are one of four teams who will play in the Legends Classic on Dec. 2 and 3.

UConn, USC and Vanderbilt will also play in the tournament that was relocated to the 9,500-seat arena at Mohegan Sun casino and resort in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Legends Classic has been held at the Barclays Center in New York City the past several years, but is moving venues this season due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

“We are pleased to be able to bring the best of college basketball to Mohegan Sun, especially under these trying circumstances,” Gazelle Group president Rick Giles said in a news statement. “Mohegan Sun features a prime location, an outstanding facility, and the proper amenities to provide a safe, secure and controlled environment. We truly value our relationship with Barclays Center and we look forward to returning there in 2021.”

Matchups and game times for the Legends Classic, as well as ticket information and television arrangements, will be announced at a later time.
