GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Forty-seven former Gators landed on 21 NFL rosters heading into Week 1 of the 2020 regular season.

In total, 37 will suit up on the 53-man active roster for the opening slate of games. This tally is the fourth-most in the country.

A primetime Thursday night matchup between the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans will feature four Gators as Chiefs wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will go head-to-head with 2014 First Team All-American and Texans cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III. 2020 third round pick Jonathan Greenard (Houston) and Tommy Townsend (Kansas City) will both make their pro debut inside Arrowhead. Kickoff is slated for 8:20 p.m.

The New York Jets possess the most Florida representatives on their Week 1 roster as four former Gators will travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills for their Week 1 matchup. Atlanta and Jacksonville both feature three former Gators on their active roster.

Seven Gators would make their dreams a reality and be selected in the 2020 draft, the most since 2017. CJ Henderson became Florida’s 53rd First Rounder after Jacksonville selected him ninth overall last April.

Josh Hammond (Jaguars) would join Townsend as undrafted free agents who earned contracts with their respective teams at the conclusion of training camp.

In addition to Hammond, the remaining three receivers (Van Jefferson, Freddie Swain and Tyrie Cleveland), who declared for the draft, earned their first pro contracts.

Stay tuned for updates to see how the Gators fared each week.
