VESTAL — The UAlbany men’s basketball team closed out a four-game road trip in style Saturday by winning its America East conference opener.

Cameron Healy scored 18 points as the Great Danes defeated Binghamton 41-27 at the Events Center.

It was the second straight road victory over UAlbany (1-0, 8-8).

The Great Danes used an 8-0 run to take a 10-3 lead early in the first half. They would take a 41-27 halftime lead. The 14-point halftime lead was their largest of the season.

Ahamad Clark had 16 points for the Great Danes, and Antonio Rizzuto added 10.

Sam Sessoms led Binghamton (0-1, 6-8) with 22 points on 8 of 16 shooting.

“I was pleased with our overall effort,” UAlbany head coach Will Brown said. “It’s nice to have more bodies. Having their presence out there helps us. I thought we did a really good job on Sessoms, he’s a really hard cover. But we have to start helping ourselves. The careless turnovers and the self-inflicted mistakes have to stop.”
